Is there a tool to help keep your pet fit?

According to the latest veterinary surveys, over half of our nation's cats and dogs are overweight. There are many ways to keep your pet fit. Your greatest tool in keeping your pet at an ideal weight is a measuring cup. The best place to start is knowing how many calories per day your pet should be getting. This includes the main meal and any additional treats or snacks you may give. Your veterinarian can help you determine the correct balance as it does vary by age, sex, and activity level.

Does your pet like snacks?

We all like to give our pets extra goodies, so why not make ‘em count? Look for low-calorie treats that provide a health bonus such as helping to keep teeth clean or promote mobility. Another trick - break the treats into smaller pieces to give. Make sure to count those additional calories in the overall feeding amount.
